Episode 11 of the Stuttering.Me micropodcast is up

Hey! Have you read Mead? Mirror theory. Surrounding ourselves with people who are supportive and boost our confidence might help the self-image according to that theory, right?

Courtney is right; you don’t stutter all that much on this podcast. I had not thought about it until you mentioned it.

Well–in a word, Yes. I believe that: (1) since we do stutter, (2) and since stuttering isn’t optional, and (3) since there is nothing wrong with stuttering… that it would be foolish to continue putting ourselves into situations in which we cannot win or get a fair shake. Life is too short to put yourself in a constant lose/lose situation. Example: if one is at a job where the boss harasses them re: stuttering–Quit. That ignorant/insensitive boss shouldn’t have that kind of power over us. Ultimately–we are responsible for our own quality of life. And surrounding ourselves with negative influences and sources just does not make sense.

Exactly! Why is it everything sound so much wiser coming from you? I just got to thinking of Mead when I listened to your show, and it kind of made sense, stutter or not.
